Supplements

What supplements are good to take?

Well that questions depends of what you are aiming to achieve?  Glowing skin, healthy gums or more energy, it seems like these days there are supplements for everything!  Well are there any super, must have supplements?

One fact that is certain is that eating health-fully (a balanced whole food diet) is most definitely related to the health of your teeth and gums.

Do you:
  • Have tooth decay despite being an avid brusher/flosser?
  • Have bleeding gums/of gum disease?
  • Have more dental restorations (crowns/fillings/root canals) than you can count
Did you know:

In Dr. Weston A. Price's Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, he found that in rural societies with little to no access to dental care but a healthful diets (no processed food) had far less decay and periodontal disease than modern societies! He found that several dietary factors contributed to this difference in oral health:
  1. The presence of enough minerals in the diet.
  2. The presence of enough fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in the diet.
  3. How bio-available these nutrients are and how well the body is absorbing them

What Influences Oral Health?

As I have stressed to my patients time and time again, oral health is intricately linked to the health of the whole body.  When I see a lot of tooth decay and unhealthy gums it is almost always a sign of some sort of nutritional problems/deficiency.

Gum Disease and tooth decay are caused by really bad bacteria which have access to the ENTIRE body via the bloodstream.  This is why heart disease, diabetes, pre-mature labor and a host of other health issues are all linked to Gum disease and an absence of oral health.
Just to give you and idea of how untreated gum disease can affect you........
